VICTORIAN SCHOOL GETS ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS BOOST

VICTORIAN SCHOOL GETS ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS BOOST

7 January 2010

Window fabricator and installer Asset Fineline has replaced single glazed timber windows in a Victorian primary school with high performance, energy efficient double glazed PVCu windows manufactured using Sheerframe profile from L.B. Plastics. Falconbrook Primary School is a multi cultural, multi ethnic school located close to Clapham Junction Station, in Battersea. Built in the nineteenth century, the school was extensively remodelled and refurbished in 1995, making it one of the most attractive schools in the borough of Wandsworth. Darren Sowter, commercial sales manager at Asset Fineline said: “The window replacement programme will enhance the energy efficiency of the school resulting is a much improved learning environment with a more comfortable and stable temperature inside the building, enhanced ventilation, plus better acoustics and aesthetics. A wide range of window sizes and styles were supplied, including vertical sliders, casements and arched head shapes. To provide ease of use, Teleflex gearing was used on a number of windows including the arched head windows which provided a particular challenge. The Sheerframe 7000 system window range gave us the flexibility to ensure the fenestration looked in keeping with the existing architecture.” The windows offer a long term solution which requires little or no maintenance over an expected service life of at least 35 years and, like all Sheerframe PVC windows, they are all completely calcium organic stabilised and free of lead additives. Gerry McConville, assistant project manager at construction and property consultancy The Keegans Group, which acted as project managers said: “The team at Asset Fineline were very efficient, responsive and flexible and it has been a pleasure to work with them on this project. We look forward to working with Asset Fineline in the future.”
