Fittings and hardware

For appropriate fittings and hardware refer to the individual window styles being used in the design e.g., reversibles. Additional remote opening devices can be used on casement and tilt & turn styles where opening lights may be high. Sheerframe products can be fitted with furniture and finishes appropriate to other build components such as internal doors and fire doors.

Grid structure

The grid system has its own integral drainage, thermal break, expansion/contraction elements. Advice on structural design can be obtained from the Sheerframe Specifier Support Department.

Design support

L.B. Plastics has a professional team of designers and engineers who link directly with specifiers, architects or clients to provide full Autocad-based support. This includes sightline and cross-sectional drawings for visual illustration, as well as breakdown of the structural requirements of the window elements by analysing each member property to BS 6399 Part 2 1997.

Using BRE derived software defining altitude, wind speed and topography, design wind loadings are produced and individual transom and mullions selected equal to or greater than the theoretical design requirements.

All this is simply available from outline sketches and postcode data. All structural components have been independently assessed by the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology at the University of Bath.
